After nearly 10 years of breeding, it wasn't until Aberdeenboy and Lorna Doone were bred that our first coloured pup was born. We immediately knew we would keep the blue male having seen a number of lovely border collies of this colour during our trips to Australia. We began his show career not realising what we had got ourselves in for with a new colour and a late maturer. We begun to seriously campaign him when he reached two years of age. It was at the Waikato & Districts Collie Club where he won the Dog Challenge, Res Best of Breed and Limit in Show under Mrs Joyce Collis of Beagold Kennels, UK that his success story began. Following Mrs Collis' return to the UK, Bruce and Sheena Kilsby of Whenway Kennels, with the interest of importing Blue, approached us. We had yet to complete his NZ title but Blue was starting to mature into a beautiful dog. Blue gained his New Zealand Championship Title with a Best in Group and R/Up Best in Show making him New Zealand's first blue and white champion of the breed. Along with Francesca, his exportation to the United Kingdom caused much controversy amongst the UK border collie enthusiasts and they became the first border collies to be exported back to the UK. Blue's debut into the UK showring was at the NorthWest Border Collie Club Ch Show where he took the Dog Challenge and Best In Show. Blue won Dog Challenge and Best of Breed at Crufts in 1991. His greatest contribution to the breed in the UK and throughout the world is his progeny. He sired over 100 litters in the UK with many many champions including the breed record holder, Eng Show Ch Dykebar Future Glory, R/Up Best In Show Crufts Dog Show 1996, and the first Border Collie to win a Best In Show at an allbreed championship show in the UK.
