Hips 4-4=8 Francesca was sold as an 8-week-old baby puppy to a young boy whose parents owned a farm. Francesca was to be his 'mate' and that she certainly became. When she was 2 years of age, her owner had to leave home and start his career and Francesca could not go with him. Remembering that when Francesca left us as a baby, we told his young owner that we would have her back at any stage if he couldn't keep her, he approached us and of course we jumped at the chance to have her back. Francesca's first show was the National Dog Show in 1988, where she coped very well and won Intermediate of Breed. A month later at the Waikato & Districts Collie Club Ch Show she gained the Bitch Challenge and Best Of Breed over a large entry of borders with the judge being Mrs. Joyce Collis of Beagold Kennels in the United Kingdom. Mrs. Collis spoke highly of her challenge winners when she returned to England with a few major breeders viewing the videos of her judging over this side of the world. Mrs Sue Large of Wizaland Kennels was one of the UK breeders who approached us regarding Francesca. (Who at this stage was only halfway to her NZ Championship Title). We decided to send Francesca in whelp to our current top showdog Clan-Abby Casanova Too. And once arrangements had been made, we needed to complete her NZ Championship Title prior to exportation. Francesca was titled gaining a Best In Group the same day and along with Clan-Abby Blue Aberdoone were the first border collies to be exported back to the United Kingdom. Her UK owner will hopefully complete the story of her life in England, which included many champion progeny, an English Show Champion title and, a Challenge at Crufts in 1991.
